Devon County Fly Fishing offer Lessons and guiding on all of the following stillwater lakes
Kennick Lake

This is Devon County Fly Fishings most popular water for coaching. Situated on the edge of Dartmoor, these beautiful waters are managed by South West Lakes Trust. Surrounded by forest they lie within the Dartmoor National Park. Reputedly, the lakes' fifty acres were the first in Europe to be stocked with rainbow trout. Fly Fishing is from bank and boat for stocked rainbow, brown and occasionally blue trout. All brown trout are to be returned. The record rainbow was caught this year and tipped the scales at 14lb 11oz. A double figure brown trout was also stocked but has not been caught yet! The new lodge was opened in June 2009 and provides a fantastic facility as you can see from the picture. Fish are stocked on a weekly basis throughout the season up to 8lb.

Fernworthy Lake

Set on one of the highest points of Dartmoor, picturesque Fernworthy offers wild brown trout fly fishing from the bank only. Some of the prettiest brown trout you will ever see, absolutely fin perfect. This wild fishery will enchant you. Wander the banks and find secluded inlets to explore, match the hatch, and cast a fly to very wary trout. To deceive these creatures will stretch your skills to the limit.
This is a lake where wading is necessary to fish it well. Recommended flies: Black Gnat, Floating Beatle Patterns, Buzzers, small nymphs. A great place for the wild brown trout enthusiast to fish dry fly.

Siblyback Lake

Situated in Cornwall on the edge of Bodmin Moor, Siblyback is run by South West Lakes Trust. It is classed as a premier fishery and stocked with rainbow trout averaging 2lb. The record being 10lb 10oz. This lake offers both bank and boat fishing and at 140 acres is good for loch style drifting. On foot it is quite possible to fish the entire perimeter of this lake in a day, which offers a variety of fishing situations; from sandy beach type shore to rocky outcrops and marsh land. Roam the banks taking note of the wind direction as often terestrials will have been blown into the bays and inlets attracting fish. If the wind has been in one direction for several days you will often find the trout shoaled up. This is very much a lake where naturals work well, so match the hatch.

Wimbleball Lake

Wimbleball is a fantastic lake for traditional loch-style boat fishing. At 374 acres it provides plenty of water to explore with many bays and room for long drifts. It is stocked with rainbow trout regularly up to 8lb and their condition is exceptional. Just look at the tail on the 5lb 2oz rainbow I caught fishing from a boat this October! Wimbleball fishes well throughout the year providing excellent top of the water action. It has a mayfly hatch in late June, at other times on a sink tip line or intermediate, Buzzers and Daiwl Bach can provide the best sport.
DCFF provide all the essential equipment for a comfortable day afloat including boat seats, electric motors, life jackets, a drogue and anchor.
