Kennick Fly Fishing Tuition in Devon

Kennick is Devon County Fly Fishings most popular water for tuition, ideal for beginners and more advanced anglers as well. Situated on the edge of Dartmoor, these beautiful waters are managed by South West Lakes Trust. Surrounded by forest they lie within the Dartmoor National Park. Reputedly, the lakes' fifty acres were the first in Europe to be stocked with rainbow trout. The water at Kennick is crystal clear. Fly fishing is from bank and boat, for stocked rainbow, brown and occasionally blue trout, a natural head of brown trout is also present. All brown trout are to be returned. The record rainbow was caught in 2009 and tipped the scales at 14lb 11oz. A double figure brown trout was also stocked but has not been caught yet! The new lodge was opened in June 2009 and provides a fantastic facility as you can see from the picture. Self service ticketing, and boats can be booked from the ranger Mark Baxendale 01647 277587. Fish are stocked on a weekly basis throughout the season up to 8lb.
