Fly Fishing Equipment

Devon County Fly Fishing will provide you with quality tackle for all of your lessons and fishing with us. We will equip you with a balanced outfit, rod, reel, and line matched to your personal requirements. All other equipment flies, landing net, hat and glasses are provided as well. We carry tackle by the best manufacturers, Orvis, Snowbee, Sage, Greys and Hardy. If you have booked a day afloat all lifejackets, seats, drogue, electric motor and batteries are included in the tariff to make the day comfortable and safe.

If you have your own tackle and wish to use it, that is fine, just bring it along. We do ask you to supply your own wet weather clothing, wellington boots and warm clothing, if necessary. If you wish to wade we have thigh waders in some sizes, but really your own would be best. The glasses we supply are safety glasses to prevent damage to your eyes from hooks. For fishing we recommend polaroids if you have a pair please bring them as they allow you to see into the water and spot fish. Your own hat is a good idea as well.

If you are thinking of buying your first rod or outfit then the choice can be confusing. Mike and Chris will take time to advise you of your choices and let you try before you buy. You need to think carefully about what type of fishing you intend doing before making that all important purchase of rod and reel. River or stillwater, small streams or large reservoirs all require different tackle and no rod will cover all eventualities. Always make sure that any rod you do buy has a guarantee.

Mike works for Orvis in their Exeter branch just opposite the cathedral in the city centre. He has a great deal of knowledge and experience helping anglers select that special rod, reel, or first outfit. He has tried and tested all of the Orvis range of equipment. "In fact I think he owns most of it". Orvis have a fantastic customer care philosophy. If at any time, for whatever reason, you are not completely happy with your purchase they will replace or refund your money. You cannot better that!
